NFL Recap: Denver Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
During a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Denver Broncos clinched a 13-11 victory over the winless New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz kicked the late decisive three-pointer to secure the ugly win.
Defensive Performance Seals Game
Despite registering nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after conceding a safety in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 offensive yards during the contest.
The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard kick with just over five minutes remaining.
Historic Struggles for Jets Attack
Despite their dismal performance, the Jets maintained possession with a chance to score a potential victory. But Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it rather than sending out specialist Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.
The Jets quarterback had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York ended up with negative ten passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented after the contest.
